Instructions
- Ask youth, “Has anyone ever felt out of control?”
- Say, “I know I have! Today we are going to discuss three things we can do to calm ourselves down.”
- Explain and demonstrate the three steps:
- #1: Tell yourself to be calm.
- #2: Take three slow, deep breaths from your tummy.
- #3: Count slowly and silently to 10.
- Practice each of the three steps with the group.
- Take time to reflect as a group by asking the following questions:
- How did doing this exercise make you feel?
- When can you use this technique in your own lives?
- Thank everyone for their participation.
