Instructions
- Prepare for this activity by drafting a set of Either/Or questions that are relevant for your youth and program area. For example:
- Do you prefer ice cream or donuts?
- Do you prefer rainy days or sunny days?
- Do you have brown eyes or another color eyes?
- Direct players to stand in the middle of a large space, six feet apart at all times if social distancing.
- Tell participants you will ask them an Either/Or question, and they will answer by running to one of two designated sides of the room or field.
- Show participants where to go to select the first or second option to answer the questions you will ask.
- For example, ask participants, “Do you prefer either a sweet or a savory treat?”
- Those with a sweet tooth run to one end of the room, and those who prefer savory go to the opposite end.
- Ask if anyone has any questions before you begin.
- Ask your first Either/Or question, pointing to the sides of the room/field players should run to answer each option.
- Congratulate players for following your instructions and answering your question.
- Call players back to the middle of the room and ask another Either/Or question. (Note: To save time, do not bring players back to the middle, but have them answer your question by running from where they are.)
- Continue the exercise until participants are starting to get to know each other, or until you are out of time.
- Thank everyone for their participation.
