- Strips of paper with a letter written on them
Instructions
- Cut paper into strips, one for each participant.
- Write a letter on each strip of paper.
- Distribute a prepared strip of paper to each participant.
- Say, "Today we will play a game called Human Word Search. You will each be the letter that is on your paper."
- Ask, "Are you ready to make some words?"
- Say, "Gather with people in your group to form words based on the letters they are assigned. When you create a word with your letters, line up with your letters and shout out the word you spell."
- Ask, "Does anyone have any questions?"
- Exclaim, "Ready? Go!"
- Once youth have correctly formed and shouted out a word, write the word on the whiteboard or flipchart paper.
- Say, "Nice job!"
- Ask, "How many words can we come up with in five minutes?"
- Accept three guesses and write them on the board.
- Continue game play, writing down each word youth form and shout out.
- At the end of five minutes, ask everyone to stop where they are.
- Call on a volunteer to count how many words you wrote on the board.
- Ask whose guess was closest, and congratulate the group for their cooperation.
