Instructions
- Use this dramatic finale trust activity for a large group.
- Direct participants to form two lines, facing one another, with space in between the lines; forming a "corridor."
- Instruct youth to put their arms out straight in front of them, intersecting and overlapping with the arms of the participants across from them.
- Assist anyone who needs help.
- Tell participants they will take turns walking down the corridor. But to get through, everyone in the line will need to raise their arms as the person passes and lower their arms once they're through to create a wave effect.
- Allow youth to demonstate the corridor wave.
- Ask if anyone has any questions before they begin.
- Instruct the first person on one side of the line to disconnect their arms and walk through.
- Remind everyone else to raise and lower their arms as their friend passes through the corridor.
- Tell the person walking through the corridor to reconnect with their friends at the end of the line.
- Instruct the first person on the other side of the front of the line to disconnect their arms and walk down the corridor as everyone else raises and lowers their arms to allow them to pass.
- Continue with the rest of the line until everyone has had a chance to pass through.
- As youth gain confidence, consider changing up the instructions for the person passing down the corridor. For example:
- Towards the end of game play, instruct youth forming the corridor to chop their arms up and down, pausing only to allow the runner through.
- Congratulate everyone for their cooperation and excellent job listening to your instructions.
- Ask the following questions for group reflection:
- How did you feel running through the corridor?
- Why do you think you had those feelings?
- If you were nervous, what could we do to ease your fears?
