- Use this technique to guide youth in reflecting upon an activity they just completed.
- Ask youth to think about the activity, possibly including:
- How it made them feel
- What they learned
- What they liked about the activity
- What they would change if they did the activity again
- Distribute paper and a pen or pencil to each participant to write down their thoughts, or else just give youth time to gather their thoughts internally.
- After about five minutes, tell youth they will get a chance to share their thoughts with their peers.
- Use a grouper or other method to pair youth up.
- Remind youth to discuss with their partners their thoughts about the activity they just completed.
- Give youth five minutes to discuss.
- Ask youth to have a seat where they are.
- Call on volunteers to share their answers to the following questions:
- How did the activity make you feel?
- What did you learn from this activity?
- What did you like about the activity?
- What would you change if you do this activity again?
- Thank the group for their participation and insight.
Alternatively, if pressed for time, you can just complete the final part of this activity – asking questions for the group to share all together.
